I am anxiously awaiting for the 2015/2016 school year to arrive so we as a NSBE family can get things started. I can’t wait to see the ideas everyone have put into making next year a success, actually happen. My goals next year are to help increase membership, increase outreach with inner-city high schools, and help make the ASU chapter of NSBE known on campus and within the engineering community. He is also minoring in Digital Culture with a gaming focus and working towards a certificate in Games and Impact. Andrew previously served as Programs Chair at ASU during the 2013-2014 school year. He is also the NSBE Region 6 Pre-Collegiate Initiative Chairperson and the NSBE Junior Region 6 Chairperson. Andrew looks to make a difference in the lives of others by addressing social issues, inspiring young people, encouraging academic excellence, and showing that NSBE knows how to have fun through strategic programming choices throughout the 2014-2015 school year. Torch Chair: Nick Williams
My name is Nick Williams, and my major is Computer Science (Information Assurance) at Arizona State University. Information Assurance is a branch of computer security that focuses on developing and securing systems in use, while neutralizing any threats against the system. I chose this major because I want to go into computer security, mainly researching malware (malicious software) and working with others to develop tools to prevent infections from occurring within systems. Being extremely self driven and dedicated freshman, I take pride in my chosen field and put forth no less than 100% effort at all times. I am proud to be apart of the NSBE community, and look forward to bring my skills and expertise to the NSBE family.
When I’m away from the computer, my other hobbies entail reading books, playing the guitar, hitting the gym, and practicing Mixed Martial Arts. I also enjoy watching sports, primarily boxing and UFC.
